REGAL BAKERY

Regal Bakery is known for its funky flavored cake and yeast donuts. After a unexpectedly busy Friday morning, my mom and I popped into Regal Bakery for a sweet morning treat. Since this was our first time to Regal Bakery, we had a difficult time picking what donuts we wanted.

When walking into their Downtown location, I excepted a small bakery with a case of donuts. To my surprise it was very spacious with lots of seating, free wifi and packed with an array of people enjoying their Friday morning.

The display case probably had 30 different donut options from snickers to chocolate gummy bears to coconut to green tea and the list continues. After carefully analyzing the donuts choices, we made our decision. We chose the creme brulee and maple bacon donut. We also got the ever so popular green tea cronut .. Or regal bakeries spin off of the cronut. A cronut is a hybrid between a croissant and a donut. Why did no one come up with this earlier?

My favorite out of the three has to be the creme brulee donut. It is a yeast donut filled with a heavy cream. The top of the donut is then caramelized to perfection for the little crunch of sweetness. It is everything I could ask for in a donut. The maple bacon donut is very unusual but somehow works together. It gives you the sweetness from the maple glaze then the saltiness from the bacon. It is a shockingly good combo. Lastly, the cronut. I love the idea to combine the two. It makes me want to explore other cronut spin offs we have here in Hawaii.
