MITSUKEN

Flying as a standby passenger, you have to be prepared to get bumped from flights. It is inevitable. This was the case today since United Airlines cancelled two flights and people are constantly changing their reservations to leave before Storm Ana hits. Unfortunately, this is the risk you take and something you can't control. But one good thing came out of this day was getting breakfast at Mitsuken.

Mitsuken was my old breakfast spot when I used to attend Kamehameha Schools. It was right down the road on the way to school so it was very convenient. But a couple years ago, they changed locations to North King Street by the Nissan dealership. This location (although farther from Kamehameha) is better because there is a lot more parking.

The breakfast specials are my go-to dishes, which stop at 10:30. What I normally get is the Deluxe, which comes with fried rice, two eggs, bacon and their famous garlic chicken. But today I got the Deluxe Combo, which is the same as the deluxe but with Portuguese sausage as well. My sister and I were sharing so we figured we would get the upgraded plate. All of their breakfast special plates are under $8 and you get a lot of food. Although, this plate was not the healthiest breakfast option, I felt it was well deserved after the morning I've had. We all need a little unhealthy treat every now and then.
