KOKO HEAD CAFE

On this beautiful Sunday morning, I had Sunday brunch (of course). My mom and I have been dying to try Koko Head Cafe that was started by top Chef Lee Anne Wong. Chef Lee Anne Wong is on Cooking Channel's Unique Eats, she has a cookbook and is basically the bomb.com. This place is dedicated to serving up local style brunch. Can you say a match made in heaven ... You can imagine my excitement to try this joint.

Sunday was probably not the best time to go because it was flooded with people. Everyone had the same idea but it was worth it (trust me). There isn't much space in this small Kaimuki eatery but they're making it work. Let me give you a rundown of what we ordered.

My mom and I are pretty big french toast fans so it only seemed right for us to order the cornflake french toast. This french toast was awarded best french toast in Hawaii by Honolulu Magazine. It tastes like an upscale fast-food french toast sticks. Don't get me wrong, it is way better than any Jack in the Box or Burger King french toast. The crunchy outside and soft inside is wonderful and it is packed with flavor. My favorite part is the frosted flake gelato from via gelato right on the top. Holy heaven.

We ordered the Dumplings All Day Wong, which is what this place is known for. Chef Lee Anne Wong has a cookbook dedicated to dumplings and now I know why. The dumplings change daily but if they tasted anything like the one I had, I am sure they're all out of this world.

We ended out brunch off with some Breakfast Bruschetta. This came on a sugary rusk bread with a macnut greek yogurt spread and fresh fruit. It was a perfect refreshing treat to end out filling breakfast.

If you love brunch as much as I do this place is definitely a must try. The food, service and ambiance is amazing. I will defiantly be back soon .. Who is free next Sunday?
