May Day is lei day in Hawaii. May Day is a holiday in many countries to celebrate spring but in Hawaii it has been adopted to celebrate the Hawaiian culture. It is a day with great Hawaiian food, performances (hula) and leis of course. Since I am not in grade school anymore, I didn't have the honor of seeing a beautiful May Day court with amazing hula performances. But I did get to eat great Hawaiian food. I had the typical Hawaiian plate with chicken long rice, kalua pig, rice, poi, poke, lomi and a new item roast pork. It was just what I needed on this wonderful lei day.
